depends on what you want to do. there are a four main areas in the field of oceanography, physical, chemical, biological and geographical. if you want to study the geography/geological formations of the deep sea, then start with a degree in geology or oceanography and specialize from there. if you’re more inclined towards studying the actual organisms, then go for a biology/marine biology degree.
