I just figured out on my own how to plot the points to a perfect octagon.

I know this has to have been discovered already, but I just feel proud of myself. I decided to do this since I was pondering how computers simply circles into a polygons. I could perfectly graph many other types of polygons of with sides of uniform lengths with this approach.

do you find a point of a polygon by the intersection of two tangent lines to the circle? Then create the entire shape by measuring these tangent lines at equally spaced out points?

Kind of. I took the equation at the top, and set it equal to another equation (by taking out the y's) which is the same except that the degrees are 45 more (360/8=45). Then I found the point at where the two tangent lines intersect. I then took the coordinates and manipulated them by changing signs to get the rest of the points.
