Photons don't physically travel slower when going through a medium. They still travel at the speed of light in a vacuum. However, when going through a medium, photons interact with the material of the material which effectively slows them down. Note, effectively, not actually.

The velocity of light in glass is the same as a vacuum. What you are referring to is the APPARENT velocity. It's going the same speed but taking a longer path. Think of it like it's bouncing around in the glass.

No it doesnt, it's just "bouncing" off the atoms and shit so when it comes out the other side it was a slightly longer time than if it had not bounced off that stuff.
