Is it worth it to learn C#?
I'm thinking about starting a course. The other option is Java script
This would be the first programming language I learn

You select a programming language based on your needs. Do you want to write software, develop a web page or crunch data?

C# is good for application programming, Javascript is used in creating elements on web pages and gluing different parts together.

I'd suggest JavaScript, as its used more universally and cuz "the web is the future".

Learn the language that's for the project you want to do.

If you have no project in mind and are just trying to learn then it literally doesn't matter cause once you know it you can just learn the syntax of a new language pretty damn fast.

But python is probably the easiest for a 1st timer.

Python is easy.
Once you've learned one language, a lot of others will come easy
I had one semester of scientific programming (Python) in Uni and that was enough for me to get a solid base which I could later expand upon, or go into other languages like C#.
I've since done both, and I'd recommend a course since staying motivated solo might be tough

You will suck dick in any static oop language even if you did shit in python it ruby - just because you think you know it and can use it to do mineral number crunching doesn't mean you know OOP or general language syntax

JavaScript is a garbage language and widely despised but until recently there was no good alternative for the web. A few transpilers exist that make less sucky languages such as TypeScript into JavaScript but you're still stuck ultimate with JavaScript running.
Now there's WebAssembly, which you normally won't program in directly but can use more reasonable languages such as C# and Java to create. All modern browsers already support it. Currently there are edge cases where you'll still need to know enough JavaScript to write glue code between the DOM and WebAssembly but that will shrink over time.

i spent like a year procrastinating with C++ but then in a few months was making cool shit in python
