I liked taking Organic Chemistry and I almost considered switching over to chemistry but I can't find any modern work in any sub disciplines that's exciting. Are there any based fields of chemistry?

But isn't medicinal chem soon going to be btfo and overtaken by biologics and gene therapy?

No doubt small molecules will always have relevance but the cutting edge stuff is swimming away from that direction. At least that's how it seems to me. Feel free to correct me though.

What does it have to do with pharmacology
People will still need suplements/nootropics/recreational drugs/analgesics/etc
