the distinction i want to make though is that "popsci brainlet who doesn't actually understand anything" is not a good definition for "scientism" as far as the common internet jargon goes. when you see the word "scientism" on the internet it usually refers to a criticism of actual scientists for believing in things like "physical laws dictate what happens" and the people who use that word typically dislike ideas like that because they prefer to believe "miracles exist" and "muh angels"/"muh chakras"/"muh totem poles"/etc
