It shows where the eye is actually looking and what the scope of the eye is. Roughly a square with few periphery. When you move your eye, it creates illusion of changing color.

It's weird because as a kid those optical illusions were less intense. But I have HPPD now (or something with eyes, as I often see shadows from floaters and/or mild hallucinations)
