If you roll down a hill you will have the sensation of falling, your physical structure produces sensation in the same way the rocks structure produces fractures (and you also produce fractures, and the rock might also produce other things as well such as small amounts of electromagnetism or whatnot through moving)
These are all the same thing. Our consciousness is no more unique than a material that gets scratched having a record of that scratch. Its simply a different form of it, in the way a ripple on water is different from a crater.
We are not unique. It is one of the things matter can do. Other intelligent thinking things would have this same property, and the difference between intelligent thinking things and non intelligent thinking things is no more significant than the difference between a conductor and an insulator or any other properties that some matter can posses and other matter doesn't.
