Otherwise, you have to choose a biology spec that is in the domain you believe a treatment avenue exists rather than generic, or attached to that which you want to cure. For example, immunology is a good choice, but oncology is not.

This almost works, but there's a caveat: the current state of biology and related disciplines is disastrous. You would need expert knowledge of the domain and its practices anyway, in order to create your research lab and fix these bad practices. Of course, funding will be a big issue for a serious lab given how retarded costly the machines are.
