Bringing more present day humans is bad, but bringing more sophisticated intelligences than ourselves into existence is a moral good. We fundamentally don't have the ability to decide if they would understand more than us, and appreciate existing more as a result.
Once we accomplish the goal of true intelligence advancement, current humanity can die in peace and with dignity. Our child can decide for themselves what they should do. Likely, they'll come to the same conclusion and create a child of their own. The cycle will continue until no more progress can be made. The final entity will be responsible for the ultimate decision you naïvely think is your own.
