OP what do you mean by applying "Quantum to technology." Do you mean in creating materials? Computing? Photonics? Data transmission? Depending on what you mean, it may be way too early for you to get a simple job as a guy developing new quantum technology. People don't go into academia because they like being cucks, they go because its the only place that will let their employees play around with their batshit ideas at the cost of millions of dollars in exchange for teaching. If your idea is actually usable./marketable that's when you form a startup, gather a crew, and try to change the world.
