As far as I know, it's the only plausible "FTL" method proposed that doesn't directly violate relativity, but it still requires negative mass, which may not be possible.
Wormholes/spatial folding may be another distant possibility, but those are both way outside human understanding.
Personally I think FTL either isn't possible, or the requirements for pulling it off are so high that no species has achieved it, or no species uses it frequently because conventional speeds are more practical than the resources involved.
