Can you train for IQ tests? As in, do IQ tests measure an innate immutable intelligence or can it be boosted by preparing?

Yes.

For the most part, yes. Though this is (at least) a little controversial.

They can be modestly improved by preparing. That doesn't mean a guy with a 70 IQ can score a 140.

You can't train for a professionally administered IQ test, other than maybe learning how pictographs express math concepts.
You can train all you like for "online" IQ tests and eventually get brainiac scores because they are a complete joke.

hmmm, I've definitely heard they're trainable to some extent and a major driver of flynn compared to other parts of the test, it's a complex subject, there are definitely limits to the level you can train to on the tests that reflects G

But if you're coming to the puzzles naive then it's probanly going to be all G

What they're actually doing is learning the common tricks of the pattern tests and using that trained pattern solving or systematic reasoning to increase theur success rate, instead of intuting it.

What do you mean building shit? You mean your given a picture of a structure and are told to build it? Is this done individually then? How would you be able to mass administer iq tests like in studies with sample sizes in the millions?

well, yes. You can take the test over and over again and see if you got a better score. Or you can just look at the cheat sheet the test-instructor has and memorize it. Both ways can help you understand the logic behind all the tasks on the test. It doesn't mean you will be any smarter, but it might make you seem smarter. Then you can make your own IQ test that other people will struggle with.

It's controversial because it's a politcally charged subject. From a scientific standpoint, the case for the g-factor is pretty strong.

My iq went up from 137 in 3rd grade to 145 ish highschool, stayed there through college, and is now around 142ish. It's all because of rigor and stress and the desire to not fail and consistently pushing myself to solve hard problems.

Either not first test was bad or I'm an intuitionist
