Why do women more than men cannibalize themselves by equalizing to some standard and then ripping each other to shreds?

Fuckload of male groups are fine with being one in a dozen but women would peck over grains of sand of difference just to tear the other down.

What sort of society wants to remain isolating and/or building up only a select group of men with harpy women eating each other just for the 'privilege' to be with one of them?
