how are IQ and impulse control related?
is there a way to measure impulse control independent of IQ to show a correlation?

African-American crime and homicides look a lot like non-American African crime and homicides, and like European-African crime and homicides.

Measuring impulse control seems like it'd be a lot easier than trying to measure actual intelligence directly like IQ tests do.
If the two measures correlate then the people who have the willpower to resist the urge to waste time "proving how smart they are" by taking mensa tests are probably substantially more intelligent than the mensa tests highest scorers.

An environment that requires high IQ will also tend to require high impulse control, low aggression, and higher adherence to group. Think something like Siberia.

The further south and west you go, the less important those things become.

In the modern day you can find loads of mediocre IQ people with high impulse control and vice versa. Think of the drone worker with no curiosity, or the 4chan poster who gets nothing done.
