On both my big toes i have had a double layer of toenails for about 6 years without pain so far

Until I was like 28yo I always had a second set of toenails grow under the old ones. Then the old ones would fall off without a problem. I never had to cut them. Now that stopped for some reason and I have cut the fuckers every damn week or they will grow too fast and start cutting my socks.

If it were my toenail, and unless the injury coincided with some kind of memorable event, then I'd definitely lose track of how much time has passed since I fucked it up.
