Science doesn't determine morality and ethics. Science is the pursuit of truth and discovery. What people choose to do with the knowledge gained from science is up to them and not scientists.

Bro if we can't even make new limbs as good as the real ones for disabled people, what hope do we have of making limbs better than real ones? There's work going on to make new limbs and organs for people. Making them as good as real will eventually lead to making them better. But right now, things are grim. We can keep people alive without a working heart and lungs (for a bit), but don't because it's hugely labor and cost intensive. They have to be monitored for clots, bleeding, infection, and loss of blood to limbs. Oh and the person on such a device can't live outside a hospital.

In the present but tissue engineering has made massive steps into the right way. In this decade >we will see the first 3d - printed human heart.
what hope do we have of making limbs better than real ones?
I do agree that we shouldn`t focus on that first, but we can of course improve on nature. Do not forget that it wasn`t nature that brought us to the moon, invented the computer and developped vaccines but human ingenuity. In a century we will be able to grant humans all talents the genetic structure can offer, to see better than the hawk, live longer than the trees and become smarter than all human genius before.

You should play to Deus Ex Human Revolution
One of the main plot is the use of a substance called "neuropozyne" which allow people to be healthy with the augmentation but condemn them to dependency to this drug
It's a good game overall but especially for the ethical questions concerning transhumanism

Played the game and liked it.

Unlike the game the first human augmentation won't be of cybernetic nature but be nanosymbionts that will act enhancile vaccines. Neuralink, CRISPR genetic engineering and 3D-biotech need no neuropozyne. To guarantee that everyone gets to enjoy its benefits I can only see a public health system that implements these technologies societal wide.

Yeah. I think any discussion of transhumanism has to take into account the very-long-run since the very idea is now just in its infancy. No one knows what form it may take or how it will unfold. In the distant future, "transhumanism" may simply mean very advanced regenerative medicine and medical rather than wholly artificial augementation. Right now, you might say that nascent transhumanism is on these twin tracks. One track being developing new technologies from scratch using non-biological materials, and the other track being reverse-engineering the body as it already exists and functions using increasingly biomechanical materials. At some point these two tracks will meet in the middle. This is when transhumanism could be thought of as having truly come of age.

But is not what we desire as a species a kind of truth about what our real motivations on this planet are? Surely this could conceivably become a more rigorous area of study down the line, as we learn about ourselves. This doesn't seem like it could be scientific today because our understanding is just still too rudimentary. I believe that can (and will) change.
