CE is more rigorous usually, and has everything in CS just with a bit deeper background in hardware related knowledge. CE lets you take fewer electives. In CS you can dabble in the humanities (ie, classes that have girls) if you like.

Lmao no, CE is EE without some requirements and then taking intro programming, one systems, and then one compilers class and that’s about it. You don’t learn how to solve problems - you learn that most problems, and yes especially engineering ones, are abstract and implemented via code and not physical parts.

Hell modeling software in particular has made the distinction even blurrier

CE’s don’t end up really making machines though. Most either work on a currently existing backend written by other CS and CE students, codemonkeying themselves, or interacting on well understood hardware. The research positions at any reputable industry job has both CS and CE post grads since problems are hard and need to be tackled on all levels.

CS and EE both commit to learning a fundamental theory / applications thereof, relating to computation / constructibility and e&m / classic information theory respectively, which of course get fleshed out with various subtopics. CE’s tackle the surface level of both these topics and end up at best being an engineering student who can study only computational hardware or at worst being a codemonkey who can solve a few more circuit problems and spout off microcontroller facts off of the professor’s slides.
