The article also makes the retarded inference from the Libet experiments that our conscious thoughts play no role in our decisions - just because they were able to predict with better than random accuracy a trivial decision of when to press a button before the subject of the experiments was aware of having made up their mind.
Just think about how ridiculous this reasoning is. How many believers in free will deny that our subconscious does influence our decisions? How is this news to anyone? And is it surprising that conscious deliberation doesn't play much role in a decision that doesn't matter, like when to press a button in a test like this? It's an absurd leap to conclude our conscious thoughts do nothing in general. And just think about how much of an extraordinary claim that is - our brain has constructed this elaborate conspiracy that make it seem our conscious thoughts are in control of our actions when in fact they serve no purpose at all. From an evolutionary point of view this is an incredible waste. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and in this case the evidence is very flimsy.
