why isn't everything in the universe completely homogeneous, or at least symmetrical? shouldn't it have been so 400k years after the big bang too, if it all expanded from a homogeneous and symmetrical origin, using the exact same laws?

that image you posted is a map of incredibly small temperature variations relative to the background and those anisotropies may only be artifacts created by imperfectly executed attempts to subtract foreground radiation from the galactic plane, our solar system, the magellanic clouds, etc

the idea that they can accurately map background radiation from the opposite side of the galactic center is utterly absurd to begin with. furthermore, even if they could and the result was accurate, it still all wouldn't make the slightest difference in your life one way or another, none of that astroshit is of any significance to anyone on this planet, its about as important to human progress as baseball is.

Incorrect, the scale of structures created this way is limited and at large scales this process predicts homogeneity and anisotropy, although there are some large scale structures that exceed the theoretical limit that need to be explained.
