Theoretical physics postgraduate - anyone else feel theory is just a circle jerk of useless publications? Literally most shit on arxiv is just some simple physics buried under a load of figures and maths but citations bruh. useful stuff drops out every now and again but chances you work on it are negligible. Apply trendy numerical method to model no one gives a shit about, map a phase diagram and u publish... Topological phase wowowowo. Am I just burnt out or anyone else feel this? Should i just gtfo to industry?
