If I think first year university level Calculus is hard, what do you think of my prospect of majoring in math?

Would anyone whos studied high level math tell me about their experiences of when they took their first math courses? Was it hard for you? or did you sail through it with ease?

Calculus from a "practical" standpoint is radically different from actual pure math subjects such as analysis.
You may find it hard for the very reasons it could make you suited for proof based math classes. Kind of unlikely tho.

Anyways, dont give yourself a hard time for struggling on calc 1. Its the first time you're exposed to a university level math course and that shock is 99% of the difficulty.
The real question is wether or not you're curious/interested about the underlying principles behind all the concepts you're learning.

Hard as in you have to put a good amount of effort in learning it, or hard as in you're having trouble getting it?
For the former, you're ok. Anons who talk about how they passed calc effortlessly either study in piss weak schools or are lying. For the later, maybe you're doing it wrong. You'll obviously have to struggle for a math degree, but that doesn't mean you'll not suceed. Try a different approach, change your study schedule, find someone who can help you out

Im trying to do the best I can here on my two math courses (stats and calc) so Ive been spending pretty much all time my studying.

its hard as Im studying 7 to 10 hours a day. But im trying to do the best I can to bump up my average. I really want to get 90, at least 85.

CAn anyone recall how much time they spent studying for their maths?

You're just going to burn out.
Take it easy, make sure that the time you spend studying is actually effective instead of grinding

Like the guy above said, what you're doing now is a completely different line of thinking than higher level classes. Highly recommend checking out a proofs book or enrolling in your school's intro to proofs class when possible and seeing what you think of that because it will be a much better indication of whether you'll like the major than first year weeder classes
