There have been a fucking LOT of people throughout history, and even though the rate of blindness at birth is really small, about 1-4 in 10,000 (as best I can look up) and the rate of schizophrenia is maybe .01, that's still one in a million odds at worst. Rare, but not rare enough that there wouldn't be at least a couple of them in the first world, and pretty much any blind or schizophrenic person in the first world will be diagnosed by a doctor.
