>>11394479As a professional in general, I think it's important to attempt SEO and keep your usernames and personal information separate. Given your extensive internet history and interests, the best thing to do is have alternative usernames for that which you don't want employers to see (such as accounts for anime, reddit, pornograhy, etc.) and then associate your real name and credentials with that which you would like them to see (Linkedin, github, researchgate, etc.) as well as with appropriate social media (instagram/twitter/facebook given that it is kept SFW content).
I personally have had to remove pinterest as one of the biggest annoyances in google searches, but after that my Linkedin shows up, twitter (I post exclusively scientific articles and other cool science-related things that aren't solely work based to show my non-professional interest and somewhat of a personality), then my Instagram, research gate, and others.
Obviously if you have a large amount of work-related content online and a low internet presence, removing the social media will be beneficial, but when you have things you don't necessarily want your employers to see, the social media is a good way to market your social skills, communication abilities, appropriate lifestyle as well as pushing back the less desirable results in search engines. Plus most students tend to not have much to show so again it's not a terrible thing to have social media. But no, I would never want my anime list to show up after googling my name, personally.
