Any tips to learning mathematics more effectively?

I've recently acquired a obsession for the subject and was wondering if anyone had some advice on self-studying mathematics in a more effective way?

Side note; I've just started my math sequence for my degree at uni and I've already crushed algebra II and now I've entered the world of pre-calc. My ideal goal is to leap frog pre-calc, but I'm not sure if that's a pit fall or not. So any advice will help!

What really helped me out was losing my mysticism about it. Like these are the great holy doctrines passed to us from on high. A better attitude is: we do it because it works, and different tools work differently. There is no grand holy order of mathematics, it's just getting to the answer by hook or by crook

most of the babby math you learn in undergrad before you even learn about basic set theory has almost nothing to do with actual math. It's all just boring calculation. If you like that shit I recommend studying physics or some other hard science with a lot of calculation involved. If you want to study real math just letting you know the stuff you're studying now is nothing like it

Imo math is something that you won't have an inherent aptitude for especially at calc and beyond. It needs to be learned through real study and actually working out problems.
So the biggest tip I can give you is just to get gud at arithmetic, play around with it, try and discover new ways to approach basic multiplication and division, play with fractions, whatever you need to do so ideally you should be to do your assignments without a calculator. Which is something you toss straight into the garbage. I grew up in the TI meme era, literally didn't understand why 3+(1/3) was 4/3 until like senior year HS.
Biggest tip for calc. Probably don't want to skip precalc. But I'm not you so I don't know. There's a reason why it is a calc I prerequisite at many schools
Make sure you have your trig under control before taking calc. In pre they won't press you much on it. But by calc II you absolutely need trig. A lot of people these days are not taking it. You're not gonna squeak by without it.
