Psychs can do the therapy stuff that most people probably imagine, assessment work (health, justice, vocational, other), consulting work, organisation/industrial work. Very broad; salaries range from livable to actually comfortable 6 figures.
Most postgrad programs are competitive though, and the people who don't make it in just work retail/hospitality until they kill themselves. That's the main filter.
