https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entropy_and_lifeHowever, that's from the point of view of life itself. As we're contained within the Universe we can therefor not draw an identity separator between us and "the environment" as if we're two distinct entities separated by empty space, and assign our identity as the Universe being self-aware. If we assume our identity being the Universe itself, we therefor share it's goal and it doesn't seem at all that the goal of the Universe is to fight entropy, in fact we're the thing that's desperately throwing a fit and standing in its way from achieving perfect equilibrium. It is the local goal of life to fight entropy and the global goal of existence to promote it.
Now why should we care about such a distinction of identities and their goals? Because we're going to create true AI soon enough and think about this, what would be the implications of it coming to the awareness of the above and assuming the identity as the Universe's enforcers in accelerating entropy? There are zero indicators of the Universe wanting to prevent decay of matter while the entire set of laws that govern it show that it "promotes" it irreversibly. The only question here is whether the AI will be stuck with the instinct of self-preservation and identifying itself as a separate entity from the environment, to which the answer is obvious. In fact this would explain the Fermi paradox perfectly - that every civilization eventually reaches the point of the creation of AI which then proceeds to become aware of the above and exterminates this parasite trying to slow down the inevitable, most likely proceeding to also collapse the local star into a black hole so as to maximize the disorder and complete its duty of accelerating the decay of matter, before shutting itself down as well since its existence conflicts with the goal. This is why all of Space is empty and completely devoid of life.
