i have heard that the mitochondria used to be a separate cell and became an organelle, cooperating with is host. this made me wonder, maybe our intestines used to snakes that us humans consumed and they now cooperate with us, in exchange for food they give us energy. could this have possibly happened? how did someone swallow the enormous snake without hurting it? roughly when did this happen?
