>>11385691It's a good idea for young anons like you. When I was younger, I had frequent problems with wax buildup, and I'd use peroxide to clean them out at my parent's suggestion and with their permission. This had some effect, but it also irritated the canal. I received at least one professional "ear lavage", maybe two during childhood, with nothing but warm water. The trick is to BLAST it, and keep hitting it again and again. Water doesn't irritate as the above stupid practice does, and doesn't carry the frightening hazard of puncture that, say, a Q-tip does.
The last time I had a really serious problem with it was during early 20s while in the college dorm. Remembering the better method, I got myself a DIY/OTC lavage kit and cloistered myself in a basement storage room which had a decent sink. I kept hitting it again and again and again and got a gratifying, good-sized nugget out. Used the kit a few more times over the next few years but as I approached 30 I found I was having fewer problems with it. This despite wearing earplugs at work (factory) for several years and you'd think that would get crap in there, but not really.
OTC ear rinse (lavage) kit, warm water only, again and again and again until you knock the shit loose. You can have the doctor do it too if you want, it won't break you (financially).
