Consider the following: The sun releases a photon into an empty direction of space. The probability amplitude of the photon shapes a cone and is almost certainly inside, the cone intersects no body.
Let’s assume the photon doesn’t interact with any random particle in the way.
What happens to it? Does it propagate into the void, will it increase its angular uncertainty until it hits something?
What about the sun in the meantime? Does it lose the energy of the photon? Will it be in a superposition and the photon bounces back and retroactively will not be released?
