I am a manchild who plays with Lego. There, now that we got that out of the way, I have a scientific question. I have a lot of pieces yellowed from sun-damage. Most of them are white originally. There is a well known method of deyellowing pieces involving hydrogen peroxide and, ironically, sunlight. The problem is, at my latitude the UV index won’t be high enough for several months. I figured since I’ve already replaced many of these parts with new ones, instead of waiting until summer to deyellow them, I might try dying some with custom colours. My intuition says that saturating something that is just off-white in dye would supercede the yellow tinge. Is this wrong though? Would the yellowing just appear in the new color? Pic related but mine aren’t this bad.
