With such extremely long projects like ITER, how is it possible to ensure the entire plan is not doomed from the start by discrete engineering errors, physicist errors, or these compounding together?

it's already obsolete because it's being produced by socialist governments and also because it's using low temperature super conductors that cost more and are way less effecient than high temp super conductors

MIT's high temp SC design is like a tenth of the cost.. but iter's job is not to produce power but to suck up tax money.. the energy cartel tried to kill nuclear power a long time ago and they will try to sabotage fusion whichever way they can

Thinking more about this makes me think that really the outcome of the project depends on the people leading it, and because there's really no way for any leaders to be totally certain about the science they're responsible for in these days, a lot of good luck too.
