>>11380170Why the cynicism? Don't you find it in the least bit fascinating that this structured bundle of matter can create an internal representation of space, time, quantity? That it is capable of language and communication? That it can induce predictive models of the universe that birthed it? No other animal has trod the surface of the moon.
I find those on this website who denigrate the notion of 'consciousness' (
>>>/x/ muh consciousness xD) to be foolish, for can they deny that they ARE, that they FEEL, whatever that may mean? That they perceive colour and sound, that they comprehend language and feel EMOTIONS they cannot see? Take colour, can it exist outside of a mind? I admit here I do not know, but I do know that I see it.
Truth is, we don't know what consciousness is, but we're pretty sure it happens in the brain, but not exclusively, the body having multiple chemical and electrical means to sense the world and its own internal states.
It will take a new generation of philosophers and scientists to understand what mysteries lie in the interconnections of our trillions of neurons.
It will redefine what we mean by 'being human' and by 'being alive'.
We are wonders of engineering so complex we have not even begun to understand our inner workings. Call it God, Zeus, the Universe or the natural order, something great is at play, a discovery of unprecedented proportions awaits, and it lies in every one of our heads.
