>>11380846I read that study a while ago, I remember feeling that the study drew no concrete conclusions. The results are hugely overblown. The grand thing their study finds is a similarity in the insular volume between women and untreated trans women. Then they say this : "Decreased insular volumes have been reported in depressed subjects with melancholic symptoms36, and these changes in insular and prefrontal cortical volumes may be specifically associated with the manifestation of psychotic symptoms in major depressive disorder
"
So either Trans women are closer to women than normal men, or they are more depressed and psychotic? Which of these alternatives do you think are true?
Do read the study for yourself though

Here are some other good quotes:
"Additionally, no differences in total brain volume were found between the TTW group and the TNTW and CM groups in the present cross-sectional study." (TNTW - treatment naive trans women. TTW - treated trans women. CM - cis men)
"TW and controls did not differ in age, but the schooling level was significantly lower in TNTW than in controls."
"No changes in secondary sexual characteristics, which were evaluated by physical examination, were reported for the TNTW group."
