TL;DR the apparent decrease in new cases is probably due to our capacity to test being saturated, we aren't seeing new cases where we should expect them meaning it's going undetected in places, and it's could be equivalent to the worst flu season in modern times. So it won't be the end of the fucking world, but it'll still be pretty bad. Make sure to wash your fucking hands.
