If he's an ME he already "knows how to code" because most ME work is with CNCs and PLCs now. It's hard to find ME work if you don't know any EE or CS. And vice versa, PLC work is awful if you don't know how to build things and don't have applicable trade certs to sign off or construct certain things in the field which is what separates line employees from foremen and supervisors.

I get much of this and it is still unironically preferable to living in my shitty idyllic hometown. Just today I rage'd on my off day digging my car out of snow. My personal situation is roughly inverse of top right: I live in a city center and commute out to a suburb. As for (((Terry Gross))), I enjoyed night commutes home listening to an objectivist talk radio host who has since gone off-air and been replaced with some other guy whose name I forget atm but who has made a good first impression over the past week or so.
