>>11376163old dsm, yes. new dsm, no. i think it's important to think about the role of psychiarty and psychology. how different can you be before it's reflective of improper brain chemistry and people need to come in and try and change you? everyone alive was conceived the same way, so it should be the default yeah? humanity needs to reproduce, but we don't all need to have kids, so does it matter if some don't? does normal brain function come down to survival utility? i'd guess when survival was harder, the answer was a hard yes. with tools and technology a bunch of people can do things that don't necessarily lead to the survival of the species because other people are doing it so well.
I figure that if what makes you happy doesn't interfere with survival at large, abnormal brains are benign and interesting.
