Just a heads up: the algorithms I'm working with are already exponential time, and it seems extremely unlikely that there would be a polynomial-time algorithm for them. The problem is technically co-NP-complete.

The strategy I'm taking is to detect as many cases as possible to shave off large sub-optimal chunks of the search space. This is a common approach used in theorem provers, for example. Lately, I've been finding some interesting geometric approaches to solving the problem faster (still exponential, just reducing the growth rate), and noticing that it's a hyperbolic space, I'm looking for interesting properties of hyperbolic geometries that I can leverage to develop more techniques for this.

Anyone know any good books on hyperbolic geometry?
