And by invented, we mean that she suggested that torpedo guidance systems use it to avoid the Germans detecting and jamming the signal, before they were actually doing this.
It was a good idea, it's believed not to actually get used though.
I'm not sure that anyone actually said "hey, this frequency hopping thing is dope, let's use it for something else", it was kind of forgotten about until someone else came up with a similar idea later.
