Same. Except I'm finishing a msc in information sciences. Guess I'll apply for phd positions that focus on AI / IT maybe some CS except theoretical CS doesn't interest me at all.

At least in Europe almost all countries have universities pay phd students a salary (usually around median wage or slightly below it).
