IIRC NASA plans to rotate out their astronauts enough to avoid serious radiation issues, and there's a 'storm shelter' inside for really bad cases.

Wouldn't Starship era space diameters basically be able to build fairly adequately shielded stations without the size limitations? You could get fairly well shielded if you have 100 tons launch capability and you assume 2 flights a month.

Yes, but Starship has yet to prove itself so there wouldn't be any serious plans around Starship in the meantime.

I mean isn't the current NASA plans for the gate way just sort of weak for long term transit. Scraping the bottom of the barrel like. Couldn't the new glenn even assemble larger standard sized modules in orbit. It just feels like they are screwing themselves.
