Got a question Anons.
I'm studying mechanical engineering, and i wanna know, NASA (or another space agency) are actually considering mechanical engineers to be astronauts?.

This reminds me of an extremely fat kid in 5th grade that said he wanted to be an astronaut and everybody laughed at him, even the teacher. The teacher kept bringing it up during the year and everyone would keep laughing. The early 2000s were a weird time, juxtaposed against the 2010s.

It makes 0 sense to spend resources sending any kind of engineer to space, especially to Mars. All of the engineering can be done on Earth. The first people on Mars will be technicians and doctors.
