According to Wikipedia he lived in Nazareth most of his life and was working in a skilled trade like his father. Nazareth was apparently an unimportant place and even for ancient standards a very small village. He was probably never in Bethlehem and just a normal simple guy in a village up until his early/mid thirties. Then he had about 2 years as an itinerant preacher and then died.
