it's actually not, the addition of HCl won't lead to the removal of a carbon atom from a molecule. a methyl group was omitted from the product in your scheme. your product should have been 3-chloro-2,3-dimethylpentane instead of the unobtainable 3-chloro-3-methylpentane (via a methyl shift btw).
