>>11365533First start with The Complete Idiot's Guide to Organic Chemistry and Chemistry Essentials for Dummies from a bookstore. Work all the problems in the book. Then read Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 for Dummies [more in depth, solidifies information]. Then decide if you care to go beyond that, which is a free old edition of Organic Chemistry from Oxford online that's like 1000+ pages of absolutely anal O-Chem. The sad part is that's only the freshman level. Obviously you won't have the lab equipment, instructors, or friends to help practice in reality. It's a lot of guesswork, unethical self experiments to get answers no one will tell you (try not to die), and research. Invest in a fume hood [build one], safety gear (goggles and carbon filter mask work for most), glassware, and various equipment you may need for whatever you're trying to accomplish. You can skip Mass Spectrometry as I doubt you will have any use for it not being a student.
