Wait. Let me get this straight.
Almost all of our standardized encryption algorithms come from NIST, a government agency heavily influenced by the National Security Administration. The NSA is the largest employer of pure mathematicians and is known to have put back-doors in every operating system, cpus, and even some old encryption algorithms in the past. Yet in the field of cryptology, we are told never ever to use our own encryption standard as it "could be insecure unless it's verified by other professional cryptologists". I would wager every encryption algorithm set by NIST, has backdoor only the NSA knows about. It's rather suspicious they get to be the ones to choose the constants involved in these algorithms, and why they don't approve of anyone modifying the algorithms in the slightest. Why do their "arbitrary" constants they choose get to be called "secure", whereas constants chosen by users are deemed insecure? Most large business follow NIST to the T in fear of being charged with Penalties from the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). Is it fair to assume this law was created in order to ensure global adoption of these backdoored standards. I think so...
