1. The arctic ice cap has only been there for 2.7 million years, compared to dinosaurs dying 65 million years ago. So it is quite new and quite rare in the history of Earth to have ice caps at both poles.

2. Primates evolved BECAUSE of climate change 55 million years ago when Earth was about 6 celsius hotter than now. So climate change may cause extinction but it doesnt just wipe everything out, in fact it triggers a growth in biodiversity.
