"Mass" is basically a measure of an object's inertia. Very crudely speaking, it's harder to push a more massive object around. "Weight" is the gravitational force on that object. Objects "weigh" more on the Earth than on the moon since the gravitational force on Earth is stronger. Objects will have the same mass no matter where they are, but their weight will differ depending on the gravitational field they're in. "Weight" in that picture should be listed in pounds or newtons, not kilograms.

Because physical weight is a force, and that picture shows the phyiscal weight in units of that force divided by the respective planet's local gravitational constant (on Earth g ~ 9.81 m/s^2), rather than just in standard units of Newton. Nice to show the concept, but kinda wrong nonetheless.

mass = kilograms (SI) or slugs (US customary)
weight = force = Newtons (SI) or pounds (US)

it's retarded that we are so lazy as to "convert" kilograms and pounds when they are actually different units. might as well convert between distances and time (just assume a value of c goes somewhere).

Weight is a measurement of force.
A scale shows how much mass an object would have if a certain force is applied on it.
Measurement of wait outside of earth is stupid, and cannot be used for anything.

That is true, but mass is also a measure of its gravitational "charge". The most mind-bogging thing in physics for me so far is the fact that there is NO theoretical reason why inertial mass and gravitational mass should be the same. So far all experiments show that this is the case up to our current measurement limitations, but there doesn't seem to be a deeper theoretical reason.

You know there are two types of pounds right? Let's try to figure this out. Why do objects have inertia then? Mass is added when energy is added to an object. An objects inertia isn't just the constituents of matter aka quarks. Light seems to be an unbound form of the same stuff matter is made out of. Always moving at light speed of course, aka speed of causality.

I just had an idea that a balloon filled with light gas has essentially negative weight (though still positive mass unfortunately). Are there some cool tricks we can invent if we consider things from this angle, aside from old and boring balancing it with equal "positive" mass to just float around?
