But the book is so good in terms of discussing the philosophy and ethics behind a stratocracy.

My understanding is that the movie has Zim be some sadistic fuck for no particular reason, they put some random chick into the all male battle unit, and there is no mention of the women shaving their head for being zero-G pilots and making legitimate sacrifice for the cause. The whole, there should be no member of the military who doesn't fight. The whole, people shouldn't have the right to vote if they're unwilling to sacrifice their life in military service for the society.
apparently theres no mention of johnnys father joining the military (in the book he doesnt die), and how johnny has this kind of terror/nervous shake when they're putting him in a pod before getting launched into combat
I don't think I'm ever gonna watch the movie, cause I'd have to reread the book afterwards; and I don't want to waste the time doing that.
From what I've read the movie is just a joke in comparison to the book, and should have just been its own standalone imo
