That book from the Carnegie corporation in 1934 is exactly what is happening today. Teachers are being called change agents and they are here to teach your children their morals.

with her third grade students, studying housing costs, foreclosures, minimum wages, and other socio-economic issues that cause people to live without homes. As a result, students’ social action was to write letters to the Mayor and join an existing community campaign to raise the minimum wage so that people in the students’ own neighborhood could afford to pay rents. By examining root causes, rather than symptoms of people living without homes, Celeste provided her students with a framework of justice rather than charity. Yeah real root cause, it must be that we need to keep throwing more paper at homelessness, it couldn't have anything to do with drugs and bad education and people relying on the common good social justice they are being taught rather than on the individual excellence that the Carnegie report wanted to phase out.
